Arike Ogunbowale

Arike ogunbowale (born 2nd April 1985) is an American professional basketball player. She is a player for the Dallas Wings and the Women's National Basketball Association. Arike Ogunbowale played college basketball playing for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish before being drafted to the Wings as the fifth overall selection in the 2019 WNBA. Arike Ogunbowale was conceived on the 2nd March, 1997 in Milwaukee Wisconsin to parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale. She has two brothers Mario (26 year older) and Dare Ogunbowale (20 years old). She was the youngest child in her family and her parents spoiled her the most. Gregory, Gregory's father, worked as a soldier in the Nigerian Army. Ogunbowale is from a vivacious family. Her mother Yolanda played softball at DePaul while her brother Dare was an athlete in football. Aunty played the sport of volleyball in UAPB. Also, her cousin Endia is also a volleyball player in Tennessee State. Ogunbowale was on the list of honors at her school for three years consecutively. High school earned her respect and fame. Arike was awarded her diploma at Divine Savior Holy Angels High School located in her home town. In addition to studying Arike was a member of three teams on the varsity level while she was at Divine Holy Angels Savior High School. Ogunbowale has led her team to numerous wins thanks to her exceptional skills. The high school season she played in was compiled with 73 starts with 1,477 career points and 739 career rebound. Ogunbowale was awarded gold medals at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship as well as the 2014. FIBA U17 World Championship, and the 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship. On July 7 2014 she was selected for the 2014 USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team. Ogunbowale was also named as a member of the ACC All-Freshman Team following her debut year as a collegiate player. Kobe Bryant congratulated her after hitting several big shots at the NCCA Tournament. Ogunbowale may be new to basketball, but she's already made herself known. She's also a soccer player and won 3 State Cup titles for Lake County United Soccer Club as well as a State Cup championship for FC Milwaukee Soccer Club.
